Excellent care by a dedicated team. New delivery suites! All fresh and clean. Travelled from Galway to have my last baby there. Can't recommend highly enough.

Probably the best hospital experience I have ever had - and that is saying something! The only thing that lets this hospital down is the car park.

I was in ICU for nearly three weeks. I wasn't asked for consent when video was taken of me during seizures and I don't know where that footage went. I was not listened to and pain was badly managed. I was told I was 'faking it' by a midwife and felt harassed when I was at my most vulnerable. I received poor follow-up care. On second pregnancy they have not given assurances that I was expecting given the trauma I suffered on first pregnancy.

There should be a separate ward/unit for labouring ladies. Women who are induced are left walk the corridors of the antinatal ward with no privacy or dignity and sometimes their partners are not allowed stay with them. This practice is not patient centred and not good for tha labouring ladies or others on the wards who are distressed by witnessing others agony. Medical staff should also remember to make sure curtains are fully closed and privacy protected when carrying out invasive examinations and discussions which are only protected by paper curtains.

The kitchen staff were very poor. I asked for water and it was never brought. The nurse gave me a jug of water later on. The kitchen staff also didn't bring what I had requested for tea. I had been fasting for a scan and I received nothing when I came back. Lucky I was going home - I had to wait till I got home before I got breakfast.

Not enough night staff to assist new mothers with stitches and new babies, although c-section women received more help. Women being induced should have their own ward and the dad should be there to help with contractions. Cruel to leave a woman for seven hours on her own to deal with contractions. Not enough advice given to deal with stitches and emergency room should be more quick with prescribing strong antibiotics to stop infection in stitches.

Gave birth to my daughter in the Coombe in September. Didn't meet one doctor until I went past my due date as I was looked after by the midwives. Loved every minute of my dealings with them. Admin staff were always friendly and efficient, waiting times were never too delayed despite the volume of people to be seen yet at the same time I never felt rushed. I had expressed am interest in a water birth and received great encouragement, my baby was the 6th born by water in the Coombe but the midwives seemed so experienced I never once felt nervous throughout. All staff I encountered from care assistants to students to catering were so friendly. Yes some next facilities are dated but the staff do their very best with what they have and I don't feel my treatment or that of my daughters was at all compromised by that. I would (and have) highly recommended the midwife-led team and the birthing pool to anyone and will definitely return to the Coombe on my next baby.

I had my second daughter in the Coombe. The staff on the ward were rude and very unhelpful. I was being induced and had been given a gel to start me off. I started getting contractions but then was told that there was no free bed in the labour ward and was given pethadine and told to get back into bed and go asleep. The next day I was given the gel again and brought down to the labour ward. The nurses there were very nice and kind. Luckily I only had to stay two nights on the ward as the nurses were horrible and a bit scary. The girl beside me asked that her sheets could be changed as they where destroyed and she was told no, 'not until tomorrow'. The woman in the bed opposite me baby cried all night, it was only the next day I realised that she had had a c-section and she couldn't move in the bed to pick the baby up. No nurse had come near her all night. I understand they are understaffed but the nurses on the ward were horrible and walking around in a temper. One nurse was asked to get a lady a pain killer and she was so annoyed she flung the door open and knocked everything off the table behind the door.

I came into the Day Ward in November 2013 and again in 2014. I must say I had a completely different experience in 2013 than to my admission this year. In 2013, I met few staff but the small few I met were fantastic!!!M y thanks to the student nurse who took such good care of me. My sincere thanks to Dr Giri, Dr Fernandes, and Linda who I met again later on St.Gerard's Ward. Thank you for being so kind and thank you to Dr Giri and Linda for their comedy show while awaiting Dr Fernandes for a second opinion. (Thanks for not cancelling me.) Together you made me laugh, It is wonderful to see staff getting along so well. My nerves were eased and all questions answered. It helped me feel a lot more comfortable and took my mind off the 'hospital setting'. As of this year, ALL staff were a different group. I met none of the named above and my experience was less than desirable.

After a nearly five week stay myself, and 10 weeks in HDU and NICU after delivering my twins at 28 weeks I honestly could not commend the staff highly enough, from doctors to nurses. Midwives. Cleaning staff. Shop and café staff. The care myself and my babies received was exceptional. If I ever do have more children it will be the Coombe I choose.

Medieval! Not only was the place filthy, but it seemed no one had the slightest idea of what they were doing. My partner being a non-national was treated with contempt and in her case, I believe all the wrong decisions were made and staff couldn't care less. To add to this, postnatal care was abominable.

I had my three children in the Coombe as a private patient and the care was excellent. The midwife in the labour ward was amazing on my third birth. I also attended the EPU as I had three miscarriages. The care and attention I received was second to none. I would recommend the Coombe to any of my family or friends. Thank you so much.

This hospital is a disgrace. their A&E department is a joke. My daughter was brought in by ambulance three months pregnant and rolling around in pain. She was told that the doctor was on call and she would have to wait. As time went by she waited and waited, then she complained to a nurse to be told that there was a lot of sections and the doctor would not be down for about six hours. My daughter went home still in pain not knowing what was wrong. I am utterly appalled with what happened. Why do they not have a doctor that's just for the A&E? As far as I'm concerned my daughter was an emergency and should have been seen to straight away. It's a joke of a hospital and I will be advising my daughter to change hospitals

I was admitted for a procedure and I was very upset as it was my second time to have this procedure done. As soon as l registered, the staff were extremely friendly and caring. They hugged me and held my hand anytime l got upset. It made the experience so much better. I just felt like they really cared about me.

Admitted in July 2013 for 3 weeks - the staff I encountered during my stay were excellent, I was looked after really well. My baby was delivered via emergency C-section and the care afterwards was second to none. Could not fault the food for the duration of my stay and the ward was absolutely spotless. Wards were cleaned early in the morning and the shower and toilet areas were very clean. Would recommend the Coombe to anyone.

I have been a patient in nearly every Dublin hospital. I have to say that the short time I spent in the Coombe Hospital was one of my better experiences. The Gynae Day ward was very clean. All members of staff from the OPD to the Gynae Day Ward and the anaesthetic team were very kind and considerate.

My daughter had a Grade IV Upper Lip Tie and a Grade III Posterior Tongue Tie. This was not diagnosed. I called the hospital at 6 weeks post discharge and was told me that I 'would never get her breastfeeding at this stage if she hasn't already'. After paying for private consultation and having her ties revised, my 7-month old learned to breastfeed successfully. This took three months of incredible pain that could have been avoided if the ties had been diagnosed. The staff were absolutely lovely, BUT hospital visiting hours/numbers are NOT obeyed - four generations of families often visit one bed. The wards are noisy and chaotic. There is serious understaffing.

Pre-natal visits were very badly organised. There was no seating for the majority of women who were in late pregnancy. Even a ticketing system would have been helpful. My daughter was in a room which had been designed for three beds. She however was in a fourth bed which had been placed in a corner of the room. There was little room to move for either patient or visitor. After having a caesarian, the nurses wasted no time in making her look after the baby. All in all, it was a disappointing experience on having her first child.

Chris Fitzpatrick was amazing throughout my whole pregnancy. This is my second baby and I would definitely recommend going private with him. I had excellent care during my entire pregnancy. The room on the ward was ok , I would have preferred a room with my own bathroom and shower. Food was excellent but the nursing aftercare could have been better. I know they are stretched but for the price they charge your health insurance the service is not worth it. It's an issue by the sounds of it throughout the hospital.

Overall, the patient care was below average.Though I myself and my wife are doctors, we found the doctors' treatment of us poor. The consultants did not appear to see public patients even if they were concerned about their baby and requested them.

While an inpatient for five days, my bed was neither made or changed. I asked a staff member to make my bed (she said that it was not too bad) and having had surgery, I felt that it was important that the bed be changed to prevent infection.

I had such a bad time attending my gynae appointments in the Outpatient Department, I was beginning to regret choosing this hospital. The clerical staff were rude. Usually the first people you meet is your impression of the organization, and this was not good. I was dreading being admitted. Isn’t it better to have approachable frontline staff? However, I was pleasantly surprised by whom I met. When I was admitted a few weeks ago now to the Gynae Day Ward I was greeted by a lovely nurse Kathleen. She was so very very nice to me. She showed me to my bed, spoke to me for a short while and said she would be back very soon. There, as quick as that, admitted, in bed and feeling much better having met her. The next person I met was an anesthetist who I’m almost sure I heard someone call Ashley. He was an absolute Gentleman, a very professional calm individual.

My last comment below (posted on 26/08/13) was not fully published for some strange reason but rather than write it all again I just want to say thank you to everyone I met on the Gynae Day Ward. All equally kind & professional and the working relationship i witnessed between all was tremendous. Special thank you to Ashley,Linda,Kathleen & Brenda.Wish to see you all again if I ever have to return. You were all wonderful and time was never an issue.

In my opinion The Coombe succeeded in providing superb care despite a challenging physical environment and restrictions which lead to a lack of staff continuity. Every nurse, doctor, physiotherapist, member of catering staff was incredibly professional and did their job to the highest possible standard. The nurses in particular were wonderfully supportive. I would definitely return to this hospital

Had my 4th baby in the Coombe by elective C-section. My care overall was brilliant, can't fault it at all. Special thanks to Nora and Deborah on night duty on Our Lady's ward. They were so lovely to me. Shame another midwife accused my husband and I of messing with our new son's security tag, after it set the alarm off numerous times. It was found to be faulty and was replaced.
